Meet the President

Meet the Chamber President

The 3rd Annual Women Impacting the Community Awards Luncheon held at Lakewood Golf & Country Club highlighted our April calendar!  This year’s keynote speaker, Fran Marcum, delivered a heartfelt, inspirational message “Expect the Unexpected”  that resonated with the audience.  Fran learned early on that life often catches us off guard, like when her father was tragically killed in a glider accident at age 44. She cited her dad as one of her heroes that she was blessed with in her life.  Her speech was insightful and full of nuggets such as, ‘Did you know that the flag pole that is on the Moon came from MicroCraft, right here in Tullahoma?’  Fran’s strong faith in God, sacrificial love for her family, and exemplary service to her community as a versatile, adaptive business leader certainly creates a worthy example for us all to emulate.

Congratulations to all of the 24 nominees in the four categories of Business, Community Service, Education, and Lifetime Achievement, and to the 2017 award winners:  Caren Gabriel for Business, Christy Sherrer for Community Service, Pat MacLanahan for Education, and Dot Watson for Lifetime Achievement.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor: Ascend Federal Credit Union, Awards Sponsor: Woodard’s Diamonds & Design, and to Flowers by Rare Earth for their floral donation. Also, thank you to our 2017 committee members: Michelle Martin, Dolly McNabb, and Tisha Fritz.

Our first Business Development Seminar of the year, “How to Become a Customer Service Superstar”  was a great success with 53 attendees from local businesses.  Thank you to Tennova Healthcare Harton for hosting the workshop and to Chick-fil-A’s own Joseph Seabolt and Kelleye Watts who teamed up to give the group tips on how caring for your employees leads to caring for your customers.

Our May 9th 2017 Taste of Tullahoma & Business Expo is rapidly approaching.  Help us revive this event and join us at the National Guard Readiness Center from 4:00p – 8:00p.  We are currently recruiting area restaurants to get on board fast to join our business booths for this evening.  Thank you to our Sponsor, Christopher Equipment, and all of the businesses that have already reserved booth space.  For more information, visit the Chamber website at or contact the Chamber office at 931.455.5497.

Lastly, our annual Chamber Classic Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, June 30th at Lakewood Golf & Country Club, 1:00p shotgun start.  Stay tuned for more details!

As I sign off, remember the theme Fran reminded us of:  “expect the unexpected, then adapt.”  Recognize the heroes in your life.  Trust God.  Love family and others.  And then perhaps you can become a hero to someone else.
